But, if you’re a Swiftie, of course you have, because we got Cornelia Street x Maroon!
ANYWAY.
Taking a break from drafting and packing and watching Bridgerton to show you a secret that has been on my camera roll for months.
The stunning cover of my next YA romance novel: While We’re Young!
Feel free to oohhh and ahhh below…
Incredible, right?! I was speechless when this popped up in my inbox and then had to resist the urge to share it with anyone and everyone I’ve ever met. This cover was designed by geniuses Liz Dresner and Casey Moses, and illustrated by the one and only Monique Aimee (my cover artist for The Summer of Broken Rules and Maybe Meant to Be).
We wanted a cover that would fit in with my growing family of K.L. Walther books, but this cityscape is such a fresh twist! Every Philadelphia landmark—the LOVE statue, City Hall, and dueling Philly cheesesteak restaurants—plays an important role in the book, and I love the car and the gorgeous color scheme and everything from Everett’s baseball cap (spoiler: it’s not a Phillies hat) to Grace waving her arms in the air.
And not only do I have the cover, but an official description!
*drumroll*
A whirlwind romance inspired by Ferris Bueller’s Day Off about four friends whose hearts are broken and mended over the course of an epic senior skip day—from the bestselling author of The Summer of Broken Rules!
High school seniors Grace, Isabel, and Everett used to be an inseparable trio before their love lives became a tangled mess. For starters, Grace is secretly in love with Everett, who used to go out with Isabel before blowing up their friend group in the infamous “Freshman Year Fracture.” Not to mention, no one knows that Isabel has been dating James, Grace’s brother, for the past several months—and Isabel is too afraid to tell Grace about her feelings.
With graduation fast approaching, Grace decides it’s time to mend their relationships... and an unsanctioned senior skip day in Philadelphia might just do the trick. All she has to do is convince Isabel to go along with the adventure, kidnap Everett from school, and outmaneuver James, who’s convinced his sister is up to no good.
In an epic day that includes racing up the famous Rocky steps, taste-testing the city’s finest cheesesteaks, and even crashing a wedding—all while James is hot on their heels—their secrets are bound to collide. But can their hearts withstand the wreckage?
I am head-over-heels in love with and extremely proud of this book! It is a fun, romantic, and fast-paced romp through Philadelphia and the friendship book of my heart. I’m so excited for it to hit shelves on my cousin’s 18th birthday.
Otherwise known as: February 4th, 2025.
If this sounds like your jam, please consider preordering it! Preorders show publishers how hyped readers are for a book, and in general, help boost an author’s career.
If it’s not currently available from your favorite retailer, bookmark this page and it should be live soon. 💛
I would also be so grateful for library requests and old-fashioned “word of mouth” promotion once we get closer to release day! This will be a paperback original like my other books, and is most definitely part of the KLW Universe.
If you need further convincing, here is my version of the blurb, which is basically buzzwords/buzzphrases: contemporary gender-swapped Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, double the romance, forced proximity, best friend’s brother, friends-to-lovers, four POVs, Taylor Swift appreciation (and outfits), grief, estranged siblings, love letter to longtime friendships, and banter, banter, banter!!!!
I don’t know about you, but I’m now really craving a cheesesteak. Somehow need to squeeze that in before I take off for California next week…
XOXO
Cheers,
Kaethe
